OOTD 11/12/12

Helloo! Just showing you my outfit for today. I actually picked my outfit quite badly today! It was FREEZING outside today, it was see-your-breath freezing as I stepped outside, so I'm glad I wore my new jumper, although being in the hot stuffy library all day nearly killed me, I was so hot! Waking up this morning Southampton was covered in frost, even the pavements were covered in ice, it was a challenge walking into uni, I was so worried I was going to fall over I clung onto my friend Becky to avoid embarrassment! I spent pretty much all day in the library on an iMac on photoshop to complete my magazine feature for my Friday deadline. It's all done now, I just need to catch up on my sketchbook. I cannot wait for this week to be over, have all my work handed in, and to start looking forward to Christmas! Excuse my expression, I was squinting from the sun haha. :)

Necklace, Hat and Coat - Primark
Jumper - Urban Outfitters
Leggings - H&M
Nail Varnish - Topshop
Boots - Office

It's only when I see images of myself that I realize how long my hair is, I haven't had it cut in more then a year! I bought this fur hat last year and I love it, it comes with me everywhere when it's cold and it goes with everything! I look a bit like a russian in it, but I think they're kinda cute, and it's so cosy and keeps my ears warm! I seem to be living in leggings recently, although today I popped on some tights underneath to keep my legs warm. I'm really loving them just for the comfort factor, and they're so easy to wear. This was my jumpers first outing, and I am still as in love with it as when I bought it! The metallic really adds an extra element to a dark coloured jumper. In the bottom photo you can see my new nail varnish from Topshop, it's a beautiful dark purple/pink metallic.
I've spent waay too much money recently on new clothes, but hey, girls gotta look good for winter!

OOTN and Christmas Meal 7/12/12

On friday night me, my flatmates and our friend Honor went out for a Christmas meal together. It was really lovely to dress up and all go out together for a really nice meal, and with 2 for 1 cocktails we took advantage! I'd been shopping all day so I had plenty of things to choose from to wear that evening! This is what I finally decided on..

Scarf, belt, necklace, tights, silver bracelet and bag - Primark
Top - H&M
Skirt and bangles - Topshop
Shoes - New Look

I went with a smart casual look with the scarf, but this is an outfit I'd definetley wear out to the clubs too. I'd wanted a skater skirt for ages, but I thought the black ones just look like school skirts, and I have a lot of black tops too, so I went with this really lovely marl grey one. I think I'll get alot of wear out of it, it's a really lovely shape and I can dress it up or down.

I am a huge fan as scarves as you may have gathered, and pretty much wear one everyday! I already have a black and white skull one, but I thought this pastel grey/blue one (for only £3 in primark!) was a really good twist on the original, and I had to have it! The necklace I grabbed too - with crosses not fading from the fashion scene, this delicate necklace adds a bit of extra pazazz without being too in your face.

I really love this bag, it was only £6 and looks identical to ones being sold in Topshop for over £30. Studs always add an extra element to your outfit too.

We went to Turtle Bay in Southampton, which is a caribbean restaurant with a cocktail bar. I'd been there before a couple of times for some meals with my boyfriend, but it was great to have some drinks with the girls!

I had spicy sweet corn fritters to start (which were almost too spicy to eat but so delicious!) and half a jerk chicken with sweet potato fries. By the time we'd finished our cocktails and meals we all felt sick! Turtle Bay is such a lovely restaurant the setting is really lovely with candles and fairy lights. Would definetley reccomend it.

OOTD 7/12/12

Hi guys! Just wanted to share a couple of outfit posts from yesterday, and outfit of the day, and outfit of the night which will follow. Yesterday I hit the shops with my friend Caroline, and accidently on purpose bought more then I had planned.. In Urban Outfitter's changing rooms they had amazing mirrors, which I thought I would take advantage of to quickly snap my outfit!

Top, bag, coat and tights - Primark
Shorts - H&M
Scarf - Vintage (My mum's from years ago!)

This is a casual outfit for me, I went to uni before heading into town. I'm wearing alot of black this winter, I'm getting a bit grungey! The scarf I really love, as it's originally my mum's, and I remember her wearing it when I was little! I'd seen similar ones in H&M and remembered my mum owned this checkered green one and she's given it to me to wear this season. It's so strange how things come back in fashion over a number of decades, they were so similar to the ones being sold in UO too for over £8! Don't you love a bit of fashion recycling?

I tried on quite a few things in Urban Outfitters, it was strange because I usually think it's too expensive for me and usually just browse all the pretty things, but I actually found a jumper which I fell in love with (photo to follow!), which was actually too pricey for me, but I could NOT have left it in the shop, I needed to own it! It was another vintage piece, and I can imagine had a nice life, but I can't wait to give it a new home, I know it's something I will want to wear everyday.

It's really long, big, and oversized (the angle of the photo isn't great!). It's a lovely dark grey and gold thread which makes it looks glittery and very Christmassy! It was £35 but around £31 with my student discount. I wouldn't usually spend so much on  a jumper, but I just wanted it so badly after I'd tried it on, and decent jumpers are usually over the £25 mark anyway. It's a perfect fit for me, so I can wear it neat on the shoulders or slouchy off, and roll up the sleeves if I want. It's so long I could easily wear it with leggings or even tights, and I can't wait to style it up. I think it's even nice enough to wear as smart casual because of the gold in it. Even though it's vintage it looks quite modern, but I know nobody else will have one exactly like it! It's a shame there aren't many decent charity shops in Southampton high street, because I do love looking for one off things!

Top, Scarf, Wet look leggings (on bottom half) and Necklace - Primark
Bangles - Topshop

This is a quick outfit (top half!) post from last week that I forgot to upload! I've just noticed that this entire outfit is pretty much from Primark!

The spotty top I'm wearing I must have bought about a year and a half ago, and it's so versitle and goes with so many different things! It's long enough to wear with leggings (wet looks ones as I'm loving them recently!) which you can't see that are on my legs!

This has to be one of my favourite scarves, I've had it for literally about 5 years! Again, it goes with so many colours and outfits.

I'd been looking for a statement necklace for quite  a while, when a quick search in Primark I found this one, a bargain at £4, I've been wearing it with quite a lot of things, and is great for day or dressing up at night.

I'm a Primark junkie, I love having a root around in there, especially as the Southampton store is so big! My friends are always shocked when I say something is from Primark as I usually wear it so it looks more expensive, I have a good skill of picking out the good stuff and ignoring all the rubbish that's in there sometimes! Especially being a student, I love buying cheaper items and styling them up, you wouldn't even know.

How do you rate Primark?!

Sports Luxe Shoot

A post or two back I said about a styling project we currently have (with the hand in next friday ahh!) where we have to produce a magazine style feature for i-D magazine, and showed what my friend Caroline had done for hers. I did mine a few days after, and I've only just got round to editing them properly! My beautiful friend Lorren agreed to model for me, for my 'plus size' feature with neon sportswear, they still need tweeking and editing a bit more, but they look pretty decent so far so I'm rather happy! Take a look at her blog too - Life of Lorren (LOL).

I'm a bit annoyed as I took them at home, and used a make-shift white backdrop, which had many marks on, so I've had to edit them quite a bit, but so far so good! I know some of the backgrounds are a bit dodgy but with a few more hours work I will make them look perfect I hope! I now need to put these into a layout and do a two page written feature, so lots to do still! What do you think?! :)

All I want for Christmas..

...is a hideous Christmas jumper! I bought a coral jumper with metallic gold threading from H&M a few weeks ago, and I absolutley love it! It is literally one of the only jumpers I have and I'm really wanting to buy another one or five.. I can't believe it's already december, and in a couple of weeks it'll be the big day. It's getting freezing cold now, and I want something I can snuggle into! Whilst googling 'Christmas Jumper' yesterday I got many weird and wonderful results. My friend Caroline and I saw the most hidiousley lovely vintage Christmas jumpers in Urban Outfitters the other day, they actually looked like they'd been taken from 90 year olds and put into the shop. They were so ugly you almost wanted to wrap it round you and give it a good home..

So what is the line between trendy fair isle knit jumper and a jumper that is just plain ugly!? Here are my few top picks of knitwear I've seen online that border on 'so wrong it's right'.

Boohoo.com - £20

River Island - £35

(This is so cute - I'm actually considering buying this one!)
Lavish Alive - £21

New Look - £16.99

Now.. this piece of knitwear is bordering on down right awful.
Topshop - £75 (! paha)

I'm definetley going to be purchasing some sort of jumper with reindeers on soon to wear on Christmas day! What do you think of this season's knitwear?!
