NYE Outfits

Maxi Dress - Topshop
Shirt - Urban Outfitters
Wet Look Leggings, brown belt, tights, lace dress, necklaces and clutch bags - Primark
Boots - Office
Skirt - Topshop
Black studded belt and black strapless top - H&M

I had no idea if I was actually going out for New Years or not until the other day, when some last minute plans with my boyfriend and some of his friends came up. I'll be going to the very local nightclub, which isn't at all anything to get excited for, and you usually have to be very drunk to have a good time there! Which I guess will be a laugh, and an excuse to get drunk is always good! I went looking for a dress last week but didn't find anything particularly exciting in the sales, not that I needed anything special.. so I stuffed all this in my suitcase for lots of options for outfits! I found the closest things to what I own in this image I quickly put together on photoshop! I've just remembered I also have a polka dot dress from H&M and a black body con skirt to add to this array of clothes, and I literally have no idea what to wear as I have so many options! I know I want to wear my heeled boots though, as my only other girl friend going is quite short, even in heels, and I don't want to be a giant toppling over my boyfriend as well! It's nothing too special so I didn't want to dress up OTT, but I really need to decide! I'm thinking the black midi dress as it's quite simple, with the metallic clutch, but I have no idea! What do you think..?

OOTD 30/12/12 & Kitten fun

Today I had Christmas take two, and my sister and her boyfriend came over for some present swapping and another roast dinner, which I was more then happy to participate in. I was tempted to wear my Christmas jumper again, but I came over all hot this morning and decided against it! This is what I wore instead:

Treggings (in previous post!) Next, Top H&M, Necklace & Scarf (very old!) Primark

This was me this morning with my hair curled once again :)

It was really nice to see my sister, and to my surprise she bought along her 4 month old kitten, Willow, which I hadn't met before, and I was squealing with excitement! I've never had a proper pet before, (I've had a hamster!) but I absolutely adore little dogs and kittens! She was let loose around our living room and decided to hide under the sofa for half an hour, but after she woke up she was more then happy to play with me and some ribbon!

We had a good half hour of playtime with a simple ribbon, and she was pouncing and leaping all over the place, and I was left with a couple of scratches and winced as she clawed my new leggings, but with her cute little face I couldn't resist her! She had a really good nose around our living room too, and even managed to squeeze herself into the most awkward spaces! She was all tuckered out in the end and fell asleep on my lap towards the end of her visit. She is so adorable, I was so sad when my sister put her back in her little carry case and took her home. I've definatly made a little cat friend today! :)

Christmas Week

Hello lovely people, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas! I've hit 37 followers, and I can't thank everyone enough! I'm so glad that that many people actually read my posts and hopefully enjoy! I'm always keen for new people to follow, so please keep 'em coming! :)

This week so far has been a bit of a chaotic nightmare if I'm honest! I knew Christmas was going to be slightly different this year as I now have a job based in Southampton, and knew it would mean traveling back and forth between here and my home (Somerset, South west of the UK) for me. It only takes about an hour in the car, and on the train, but I'm knackered after scooting myself and my suitcase all round the country this week! I work at Next, and had to work on Christmas eve evening, where the staff set up the sale.. As you may (or may not know, do you maybe live under a rock?! :P) that the next sales are BIG news, and are always crazy. I got a train home eventually that night after my first one being cancelled due to flooding, and spent Christmas day at home. It was really nice, but a small affair as it's only me, my mum and my uncle. I made the most of it though and had a beautiful roast dinner, ate lots of junk, saw my boyfriend and got lots of nice pressies! :)

I didn't get anything that exciting (although I got my hair curlers that I wanted, no more stealing my friend's!), and no where near as extravagant as some blogger's have shown! But I'm always grateful for what I do get. My mum has paid for me and my sister's flights to fly to Italy next July to visit my auntie and uncle who moved out there, so that was my main present, and is most definitely something to look forward to in these winter months!

Boxing day was the first day of the sales, and my mum drove me back to Southampton for my shift. I was on kids wear for 5 hours, and spent the whole time picking clothes up from the floor, and it wasn't my idea of a relaxing boxing day! I did however stop every now and then to 'aww' and coo over the mini christmas jumpers and miniature outfits! My luminous green tshirt was pretty sexy too..

After discovering how to curl my hair properly, I LOVE doing it! My hair looks so flat and boring otherwise, and I'm worried it's going to start being a very time consuming habit for me in the mornings.. As it's getting ridiculously long now it's a great way to add volume and bounce to my mane, I may follow up with a review soon :)

After my shift was over my mum drove me home once again, because I didn't want to be in my student flat alone on boxing day! I spent yesterday with my boyfriend, and came back on the train. I worked friday and saturday, then FINALLY I am home for a whole week! I'm so excited, I feel like I haven't done anything particularly exciting yet over Christmas, and really want to do something fun with my boyfriend, all my friends at home are busy this week unlucky for me!

Of course there is a bonus to working in the sales, the staff get first pick of anything they want! It was hard not to pick up all of the gorgeous Next home pieces, but I did treat myself to a couple of bits..

I NEEDED to have this cushion in my life! It was so big and fluffy and gorgeous I had to buy it. It was £14 down to £6 so I grabbed it, and it now takes pride of place on my bed.

I also got these 'treggings' but they're just actually really nice thick leggings,  I'd had my eye on them for a while in the store and when they were down to £8 from £14 I decided to get them! I've been LIVING in leggings recently and thought these were really nice and different. (Outfit post to follow!)
I'm trying desperately to save save save and not spend, although I couldn't resist this little iPhone case though from accessorize, that was £5!

So adorable! I couldn't resist the little ears on there..

I've been so busy and traveling everywhere, I can't wait to just sit still and relax for a week. Although I should probably start thinking about doing some university work - I have two presentations to do when I get back!
My Christmas has been pretty hectic, but I can't wait for my payday in January! :) I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and had lots of fun!

Here comes santa claus

You may have remembered a few posts back I wrote about Christmas jumpers. My craving to get one was almost too much to handle, I really wanted something really festive to wear on Christmas day, and knew a few cheap shops in Southampton sold them. The last weekend before the big day, I knew it was now or never.. The shops that stocked them were those really cheap tacky fashion shops that you always walk past without giving a second glance at, but they had an amazing choice of different designs, I was there for ages trying them on and deciding which ones I would actually wear, and which ones were too tacky for anything but Christmas day. I was so almost tempted by a jumper with santa on, but I settled on this one. I really didn't want to get a black one as my wardrobe is currently getting into a dark phase, but the red looked too garish for me! I thought the black was alot more subtle, and the fair isle and reindeer print made it suitable for wear until mid January I think! It's quite long, so it'll be really good to wear with leggings. I'm going to save this bad boy for Christmas day, teamed with wet looks leggings and some gold accessories. At the bargain price of £9.99 how could I resist!

It's cute right? I can't wait to wear it! Quite stylish too for a shop that sold furry bags..

This may be the last post of 2012 guys, so I wish everyone has an amazing Christmas day! :)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! <3

Rudolph Nails

Hello everyone! I can't believe it's Christmas eve EVE today! I'm not feeling all that Christmassy right now though unfortunately, as i'm working right up to 6pm tomorrow (tagging sale items at Next - lucky me!), and I'm back to Southampton boxing day for work, so I'm a bit sad I'm not going to have that 'post Christmas' turkey sandwiches/family/animated films kinda day, but oh well, it's all money towards my much needed January pay check! I've worked in a Next sale before, and it was absolutely mental, but surprisingly fun on tills. The time flies by, although I've heard the Christmas sale is even more mad.. I'm going to be honest, It's not the most fun job in the world picking up clothes from the floor in a store that looks like a bomb has hit it, but hey ho. I just want this week to be over and done with ASAP so I can spend all next week at home! I might also grab first choice of a few bargains too..

But anyway, back to the main subject of my post, Christmas nails! I'm a huge fan of nail varnishes, nail art, and anything new on the scene I'm wanting to try out. I really wanted to do some fun Christmassy nails this year, and so I googled some images for inspiration. At christmas the nail art is endless, from candy canes and snowflakes, so fair isle decorations and glitter christmas trees on the ends of your fingers. I couldn't do anything too detailed as I don't have any nail art pens, but I do have quite a steady hand with a brush due to practice! I was spoilt for choice, but I could not resist giving some adorable little reindeer nails a go! There were plenty on google, some great, and some very bad! I looked at a few tutorials and chose the best looking ones, and combined it with colors I already had.

Here's what and how I did it! :)

Nail polish used:

1. Models own 3 in 1 base/top coat

2. Barry M gold Instant nails effects
on it's own this chips off SO easily, such a bad product! :(

3. 17 Lasting fix in Forever

4. Models Own nail art pen
as I didn't own a dark brown! The pen has broken so I used the thin brush on the opposite end

5. Barry M in Red Glitter the most festive of all my nail varnishes!

Step 1: Base coat of course!

Step 2: Base colour, I chose the Barry M gold foil polish as I thought it was a nice festive metallic :)

Step 3: I drew a semi circle at the end of my nail in the light brown, as neatly as I could. Was much harder on my right hand..

Step 4: Next I added some antlers. I would have used a dark brown, but I didn't have one, so used the next best thing, a black with a thin nail brush :)

Step 5: The finishing touches, I added a red nose to each rain deer with the red glitter, and used a tiny blob of white, then black for the eyes, and voila!

Some of them look a bit cross eyed but I was pretty pleased with how easy they were, and I did most of it with normal nail brushes! I was terrified of smudging them, as I always do with freshly painted nails, but added a clear topcoat when they were dry.

So, what do you think? I'm really happy with them, and I'm being really careful not to chip them as I feel like a repair job could take a while! Have you stumbled across any fun Christmas nail art this year?

Urban Stripes

As a student, my money has been going down down and down recently, and it gets tough towards the end of the semester's before you get your next loan! My savings have recently been cleared out too with the deposit on our new student house for next year, so I'm feeling a bit skint until January.

I really can't believe students/their parents are expected to pay hundreds of pounds in advance for student housing so much in advance, it's really bizarre. I really don't have that kind of money lying about to pay for a house your not even living in until next summer! If you literally had nothing, you would be homeless. In my opinion student finance really need to consider this when giving loans.. Sorry, rant over!

Anyway, bearing in mind that I'm skint, I feel the need to buy clothes more now then ever, and I'm not sure why! When I went into town on friday I was convinced I was not going to buy any more clothing, until I stupidly walked into Urban Outfitters again and hit the sale section, where they had 50% off all they're sale items. I couldn't believe it, and really wanted to grab something that was worth ALOT more then I would be paying! This blouse caught my eye a week or so ago, and so I tried it on. I really liked the simplicity of the stripes, and knew that the monochrome meant it would go with alot of my clothing I own already. It would also be really good to dress up, or down. I really liked the look of it done all the way up too, I know this is a look that's been in for a while, but I don't really own any like it, and thought it would be a great addition to my wardrobe. It was reduced to £20, and with the 50% off, it was £10, so I really couldn't say no!

I styled it up with wet look leggings for drinks on saturday night, with black heels, for a smart casual outfit. I did the collar all the way up, and had a thin silver pendant necklace on. I wore a black bra as its quite see through, but wasn't so obvious in a dark club! I can't believe it was only a tenner, and I know I can wear it day and night. I have a slight addiction to buying something new everytime I go out, I like to wear a different outfit every time usually, and it just makes you feel so good wearing something you haven't worn before. (Well, to me it does!) Now I need a very serious slap in the face, otherwise I won't have any money to spend on doing nice things over the Christmas holidays. Must... stop... spending!

German Alcohol!

Hey guys! Hope you are all getting ready for the big day next week! I can't believe it, this month has gone so fast.

I'm a bit sad as certain arrangements have been moved this week, meaning I can't go home until tomorrow, when I was meant to be going monday, but I can't wait to start spending some time at home and relaxing. I've also got my first grades back for this semester's work! My fashion marketing report.. I got a first! I am so happy! It took me weeks of stressing, researching and typing, but I'm so glad I put so much effort in, I'm so proud of myself, especially as last year I only got 50% on an essay I poured my heart into, but I've obviously got better at the more academic side of things! People think a fashion courses are a bit of a doss, but believe me, this report was over 50 pages long and over 12,000 words!

Me and my flatmates have been doing a few nice Christmassy things together before we all go home. On friday I quickly chucked an outfit on to go into town with my friend Becky, and we ended up spending a good few hours at the German Christmas Bar in town, where all the markets are. We'd been meaning to go there for weeks as it looked like such a nice place to sit and relax, have a drink, and get in the Christmassy mood!

This was my very exciting (not) outfit I threw on in a rush! My legs ended up getting very cold when it got dark.. but it was a good job I had my mittens and fur hat in my bag!

We had German beer that wasn't that exciting, and was actually quite pricey, but it was a great atmosphere with the Christmas music blaring! The best one has to be 'all I want for Christmas is you'! What's your favourite Christmas tune?

My week with Instagram

Hi everyone! I've just hit 27 followers! I'm so excited, thank you everyone who's started following me recently, and I hope your enjoying my posts! :)

This week has been rather stressful, but I am FINALLY completely handed in all my work, I'm so happy and relieved, and can now relax a bit and enjoy my Christmas break! Although I must say I haven't had the best start, it's been freezing cold, and pouring with rain today in Southampton, and my boyfriend had to cancel his trip to see me last night, which made me upset as I really miss him sometimes, and I've hardly seen him at all this week. I also have to attend court on Tuesday to be a witness for one of my friends who went through an awful experience a few months ago, which I'm really nervous about. I've never done anything like that before, but once that's over and done with, I'll get to go home for a few days, see my boyfriend and my mum and relax. Here are a few instagram piccies of my week/last few days and what I've been up to.

1) Me showing off my new jumper/necklace
2) My mum sent me a photo of the Christmas tree set up at home! Can't wait to see it.
3) Caroline's hot chocolate at uni - the woman was more than generous with the cream
4) A beautiful sunset with an airplane line across the sky
5) Finishing off my magazine spread on photoshop
6) It's time for sparkly nails again so near to Christmas
7) Me and my cup of tea
8) Southampton, the view from my window yesterday morning
9) What I wore yesterday Christmas shopping and went to Toby Carvery
10) Loved the huge Christmas tree in there

It feels so weird not doing any work today! I've had to keep myself occupied and finally put some of my clothes onto eBay. If you'd like to take a look, the link is here. Please take a quite gander, it's all decent stuff, grab some bargains! :D
